NOTE: Ideal for those who attended Fall 2009 Beginning Conversational Spanish, or had attended equivalent basic knowledge)

Meeting Day and Time: Saturday from 11 AM to 12:30 pm; make up schedule to be determined as needed.
Objective: To be able to engage in basic conversational Spanish, and conjugate action verbs, etc

Biography: Miriam is a native speaker of Spanish, and has a BA in Business Administration from University of Texas at El Paso. After spending 30 years in the corporate world, in which she was the compliance officer for a major garment manufacturer, she will focus her energies on community activities. Miriam’s teaching experience includes teaching English to the University of Texas football team, and surviving….so she hopes to help you learn Spanish!!
The first session of this course the instructor will determine the level of fluency of participating students. Subsequent sessions will build on language skills: understand language basics, use of tenses (present/past/future), pronunciation, correct usage of words, and engage in basic conversational skills. Throughout the sessions, there will be pop quizzes and hand outs to re enforce learning.
Sesión #1 “Work Unit #5: Simlple Negative, and Interrogaitive Words. Review lesson and basic elements from last semester. Homework will be assigned.
Sesión #2 “Work Unit #6: Indefinite articles” Review lesson, and materials from previous session, and how you practiced the lesson. Homework to be assigned including culture unit 1.
Sesión #3 “Work Unit #7 Cardinal Numbers, Time, Days, Months, Dates, Season. Review culture unit #1 and review previous session. Homework will be assigned.
Sesión #4 “Work Unit #8 Irregular Verbs of the Present Tense. Review units from previous session, and how you practiced the lesson. Homework will be assigned.
Sesión #5 “Work Unit #9 Uses of the preposition “a”. Review previous session, and how you practiced the lesson. Homework will be assigned.
Sesión #6 “Work Unit #10 uses of the preposition “de”. Review previous sessions, and how you practiced the lesson. Homework will be assigned.
Sesión #7 “Work Unit #11 Learn “ser” (to be). Review previous session, and how you practiced the lesson. Homework will be assigned.
Sesión #8 “Work Unit #12 learn “estar” (to be) contrasting uses of “ser and estar” Review previous session, and how you practiced the lesson. Homework will be assigned.
Sesión # 9 “Potpourri” this session can be student choice as well as review from previous session, and a practice session. Prepare for final exam.
Sesión #10 “Resumen y Exam” in this final session each student should be able to hold a basic conversation on a topic from a previous session.
